Barack Obama calls it the audacity of hope. But what happened? Where did all that energy go? There are all kinds of possible answers, focused on everything from the tactics of the organisers to the idea that modern protest might be a banal matter of registering one's individual dissent - "Not in my name," as the slogan put it - then going home happy. Some people are yet more cynical, claiming that the march was another one of those modern Dianaesque spasms, indicative of not much more than a fleeting national pang of banal humanitarian sentiment, and that very modern desire to break out of our atomised lives and seek solace in crowds. But never mind them. There are reasons to take what happened that day much more seriously, chiefly because the march both dramatised and accelerated an ongoing disconnection between millions of Britons and the people who affect to speak in their name.

EDIT 2: The reports I have seen currently read speculation but considering the sources I have seen are reliable (Financial Times, Radio Today, Brand Republic), I would edge my bets that this is sadly true. .
Perfect partnership
She's a news junkie and loves pitching stories, talking to journalists and doing that side of the business. Prue is exceptionally good at strategy, ideas and writing, so we are a great match. What are your individual weaknesses? Lou tries to be superwoman, juggling family, work, clients and exercise. She is also sometimes too immersed in issues and crises and takes them home. Prue is juggling media commitments as well as her work here, so she sometimes needs to take a chill pill to put it all in perspective. How are these skills, strengths and weakness exploited in the partnerships? While we both love different roles and tasks so it is easy for us to work together. In the Jan. 11 Sports section, Homewood-Flossmoor basketball players Supo Sanni and Jeremy Saffold were erroneously reported as being suspended for their game against Lincoln-Way East. Sanni had 16 points and 7 rebounds in the game, while Saffold played sparingly in the Vikings' 60-37 win.

Texas Rangers youngsters need to show gradual improvement
SURPRISE, Ariz. – In 1983, the Briarcliff Barons (my alma mater) played for the Georgia High School state championship in baseball. My buddies and I hung out at Cosmos video arcade, played Galaga and USA vs. USSR bubble hockey. A much thinner and well-coiffed future sportswriter took the lovely Adele Medina to prom where we danced the night away to Steve Perry and Journey. You haven't really lived until you've slow danced to "Lights." And 14 players currently in the Rangers' spring training camp, were not even born yet. This means two things: 1. I'm getting older and paunchier. 2. The Rangers are getting younger. If there is a focus at spring training this year, it should be on that group of 14 (for the record, it's Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Brandon McCarthy, Luis Mendoza, Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden, John Mayberry Jr., German Duran, Eric Hurley, Julio Borbon, Brandon Boggs, Joaquin Arias, Max Ramirez, Matt Harrison and Elvis Andrus) and what they show management over the next six weeks.
Affleck and Kimmel quite the pair
People really must have a lot of time on their hands. A satiric video in which Jimmy Kimmel, the host of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, talks about (and acts out!) an affair with Ben Affleck, has become an Internet sensation. First shown on Sunday during Kimmel's post-Oscar broadcast, the clip had been viewed more than two million times on YouTube as of press time. Look out for appearances by Brad Pitt (who plays a guy delivering a cake congratulating the couple), Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Don Cheadle and Robin Williams. The video was made in response to one put out in January by Kimmel's girlfriend, Sarah Silverman, in which she confesses she's been sleeping with Matt Damon. That got eight million plus hits. HEALTH UPDATE Supermodel Naomi Campbell is on the mend at a Sao Paulo hospital after undergoing emergency surgery to have an ovarian cyst removed.
