Actually the new news on Engadget today makes Mike Nash's statement a lot more sensible. There's two aspects of things going on.Problem with Mike's machine has to do with compatibility and the lack of drivers for Vista. Having a Vista stick on a machine which doesn't have Vista drivers is not a good thing and a valid problem, I think.Anybody surprised that Vista has compatibility problems? .

A call for stronger Canadian leadership

John Manley and his fellow panelists have done this country a tremendous service. Their report is the single most useful contribution in the past two years to the debate over Canada's role in Afghanistan. Its honesty and clarity stand in stark contrast to the Conservative government's overly managed messaging strategies and the opposition parties' lack of credible analysis of the Afghanistan mission.

While the panel's recommendations will be debated over the coming weeks, its unvarnished description of conditions in Afghanistan and lucid assessment of the options facing Canada are, in themselves, important and welcome. If these descriptive elements of the report help to foster a more informed political debate on the future of our mission, the panel's work will have been a success, even if its specific prescriptions are contested.

Blog: Auto World's Cheapest Car Greeted by Environmentalist Protests

When your average salary is a $250/month, you don't buy a car. You ride a scooter, a vehicle which for much of Asia's population is the de facto mode of transportation.

Of course, putting four or five people on a seat meant for one and a half isn't comfortable or even safe. The children have to be constantly held. Occasionally they'll sit on the rear tire shield or stand on the front, skipping the seat entirely. Accidents are common-- and without any sort of protection, even the most trivial often cause serious injury. Exposure to the elements has its health effects, especially for small children who in bad weather typically arrive rain-soaked and covered in mud from foul city streets.

The Indian company Tata is trying to change all that. Its new vehicle, the Nano, has a starting cost of only $2,500.

Clinton needs big win to cut into Obama's delegate lead

As much as Hillary Clinton wants to win Ohio on Tuesday, a two-percentage point win won't do her much good in the delegate count.

Under the complex mathematical formula the Ohio Democratic Party will use Tuesday to divvy up the 141 delegates at stake in Tuesday's Ohio primary, a candidate has to win big -- really big -- to win the lion's share of the delegates.

Business spies for FBI eyes

The FBI Deputizes Business. Editor Matthew Rothschild wrote, InfraGard is a child of the FBI, says Michael Hershman, the chairman of the advisory board of the InfraGard National Members Alliance and CEO of the Fairfax Group, an international consulting firm.

InfraGard started in Cleveland back in 1996, when the private sector there cooperated with the FBI to investigate cyber threats.

'Then the FBI cloned it,' says Phyllis Schneck, chairman of the board of directors of the InfraGard National Members Alliance, and the prime mover behind the growth of InfraGard over the last several years.

InfraGard itself is still an FBI operation, with FBI agents in each state overseeing the local InfraGard chapters. (There are now eighty-six of them.) The alliance is a nonprofit organization of private sector InfraGard members.
